Job Description

The Physical Therapist I performs initial evaluations and provides therapeutic interventions to a diverse patient population across inpatient, outpatient, and acute care settings. This is an entry-level role that functions as part of a multidisciplinary team and may rotate among various clinical areas. The PT collaborates with the Therapy Manager or Professional Practice Manager and follows all policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial examinations, establish goals, plan and implement treatment plans.
  • Perform timely re-examinations and adjust treatment goals as needed.
  • Complete all required documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, monthly summaries, and discharge summaries.
  • Provide training and education to families, caregivers, and medical personnel.
  • Recommend necessary durable medical equipment; prepare letters of medical necessity.
  • Participate in discharge planning and provide home exercise programs.
  • Attend required rounds, conferences, in-services, and meetings.
  • Assist with additional patient coverage based on staffing needs.
  • Maintain attendance records, patient charges, and therapy statistics.
  • Supervise Rehab Patient Care Associates, students, and volunteers as appropriate.
  • Maintain active membership in the APTA.

Skills & Requirements

  • 0–1 year of Physical Therapy experience.
  • Active New York State Physical Therapy license required.
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
