General Manager – Laboratory Testing

If you’ve led a lab through the highs and lows of operational complexity, know how to balance quality with profitability, and still find time to mentor your team, this might be the role that finally ticks all your boxes.

We’re looking for a seasoned Lab General Manager to take the reins of an analytical food testing laboratory. Although this is the core service offering, we’re open to leaders from environmental or other regulated/accredited lab sectors who bring the right mindset and experience to drive growth.

The leader will inherit a strong foundation and have the chance to put their stamp on its future direction.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading and supporting a team of scientists, managers, and technical specialists; creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance.
• Overseeing daily operations across the lab, from quality and safety to logistics and client delivery.
• Managing budgets, driving profitable growth, and making decisions on major investments.
• Working closely with sales and marketing colleagues to win new business.
• Ensuring compliance with corporate, quality, and regulatory standards

What we’re looking for ( minimum criteria needed for this position)

• A degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years in laboratory operations, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role managing P&L. (min 30 people or $5M+ sized operation, ideally $10M+)
• Strong supervisory experience, you know how to build, motivate, and lead teams.
• Experience in laboratory testing is essential, but we’re open to candidates from the Food, environmental or other analytical testing sectors .
• A proven track record in improving operational efficiency, safety, and profitability.
