Title : Buyer

Location : Waco, TX

Details : 36-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role

Pay Rate : $18.00 – 20.00/hr.

Job Summary

The main function of a buyer is to purchase machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. A typical buyer is responsible for buying goods and services for use by their company or organization.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability and other relevant factors.
• Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
• Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
• Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
• Prepare and manage Request for Quotations, issue purchase orders and manage cost changes.
• Consult with Category Buyer, select suppliers, prepare purchase orders, solicit proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
• Monitor order schedules and shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.

Years of Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field required.
• 0–2 years finance-related experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in a financial discipline preferred (other disciplines considered).
• Will consider candidates with an Associate's degree in a financial discipline (other disciplines considered) with 2 or more years of related experience.

Skills Required

• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint) and email systems; SAP preferred
• Ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals, and technical data
• Knowledge of supply chain management and purchasing regulations
• Experience documenting client information and predicting buying patterns
• Background in purchasing, procurement, or supplier relationship management preferred
• Collaborative work style with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
